Personal Profile

My earliest memories of reading are of my parents constantly sharing books with me and each other. They read every day, and were always discussing the stories. This made me want to read the stories too, even though most of them were too difficult for me. Early on, I remember loving the Frog and Toad books , and later I was hooked on the Nancy Drew mystery series.

My big turning point as a reader was when I finally finished The Lord of the Rings (I believe it was in 6th grade) and learned what it was like to be totally immersed in another world through books. I was fascinated with the characters and how they all interacted with each other, and am still amazed at how authors such as Tolkien could keep track of all the characters, places and adventures!
My reviews and opinions of books for children follow, based on my reading experiences in EDUC 602 at the Univ. of Delaware. I will focus on a common theme of relationships, and plan on using this as a "shopping list" next year for our new baby!
